Rafting Trip
Cascade

Thursday - August 2nd, 2001

On Thursday, 19 brave soles loaded up and headed for Cascade and the Payette River.  For anyone who was not able to attend the raft trip, boy did you miss out!  The day could not have been more perfect.  The weather was great and the people were ready for fun.  Rafters were: Soron and Kathy Root, Shelley Bright Fraiser and family, Rick Tibbets, Brad Wright, Leo Radandt, Earl Duke and girlfriend Becky, Katrina Bryant, Bill Fackler and fiance Carol, Tammy Baughman Mecham, Susie McCarty, and Gerald Lambert.

We took off from the Carbarton bridge at 10:0am.  We enjoyed splashing each other and throwing people in the river.  We stopped on a beach about half way down the river to enjoy a beer and some chips.  Some people had a problem staying the the rafts, both Suse McCarty and Tammy Meecham fell out, but recovered quickly.  There were some real fun rapids, you had to hang on that is for sure!

We fondly referred to Brad's raft as the "Pirates", they were a motly crew and kept trying to do the other rafts in.  We reached the end of our jorney at about 2:00pm then headed back to the Root's cabin for chicken, potato salad, watermelon, and of course beer! (we had pop too)  At the end of the day we still had our original rafters and the day was a success.  We hope to do this again in the future so be ready as the more the merrier.
